The Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport hosted The Open Championship in 2008 on its rugged links course. A further four championship standard courses are within 20 minutes drive from the Ramada Plaza Southport hotel and the fifth one is only half an hour away.
These golf clubs are: Hillside, Formby, Hesketh, Southport & Ainsdale and West Lancashire Golf Clubs. They are all superb courses that provide a challenge even to the most accomplished golfer.
